Some sessions will be hybrid, so even if you're unable to be here in person please do consider joining remotely.

We're looking forward to seeing you there, and we hope you can make it! Registration is now open online.

SPP Ask An Alum

We are recruiting for participants to join our SPP Ask An Alum mentorship programme for the 2023-24 academic year. The programme is set up to help students gain valuable insight into the professional world: students and alumni will be matched according to shared professional interests, and we ask alumni to commit to at least three virtual or in-person meetings over the course of the year to share professional insights and answer student questions.

We'd love to have you involved - a guide to the programme can be found here, and if you'd like to participate please get in touch at spp.alumni@lse.ac.uk

"Ask an Alum is an excellent initiative to strengthen the relationship between LSE students and alumni. This will help LSE professionals to address current market demands within both public or private sectors. LSE students can also bring the best of SPP to the market through innovation, best practices and LSE network. I'm glad to be part of this initiative and encourage my colleagues to support the future LSE generations" - Sebastian Gallego, current student mentor (MPA, 2017)

SPP Alumni Review

There's still time to share your feedback! If you want to have a say in the shaping of the SPP alumni programme, the Alumni Review Survey is still open. This is your chance to have your voice heard - we'll be taking all feedback on board as we look at how to develop and enhance the programme further, so please share your thoughts with us.

Meet Enrique José Garcia

Meet Enrique José Garcia (EMPA, 2020), our latest Alumni in Action! Enrique joined our Executive Masters programme due to a desire to participate in the reconstruction of his home country of Venezuela. Having seen first-hand the effects of the migration crisis on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, Enrique co-founded DignifAI - a social enterprise which provides work opportunities to Venezuelan migrants and Colombian IDPs.

You can read Enrique's story here.
Do you know an alumnus whose story should be shared with the SPP community? It could be a friend, a colleague, someone whose work you admire from afar - it could even be yourself! Drop us a line to recommend the next alumni profile.

New Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service

We are delighted to announce the creation of the Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service. These new scholarships will train future generations of public policy professionals who are ordinarily resident in Peru. By supporting those who would otherwise lack the financial means to study at LSE, these new scholarships will address skills gaps to promote the country’s continued economic development.

These new scholarships reflect the purpose of the SPP and the mission of LSE, which was founded in 1895 ‘to understand the causes of things, for the betterment of society’.  A launch event for the scholarships took place at the Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (UTP) on Tuesday 18th April, in which we explored the SPP's vision for the betterment of society.

Welcoming this gift, Professor Andrés Velasco commented,  "On behalf of LSE, I am delighted to receive this generous gift which will enable the transformational benefit of an LSE education to reach a wider group of talented individuals in Peru. We already have strong philanthropic and educational partnerships in the region, and I am proud to add this new scheme to our work. I look forward to welcoming the exceptional scholars that this scheme will fund".

You can find out more about the funding available online.

Geopolitics of Energy in the 21st Century

Russia’s war on Ukraine has heavily impacted the world’s energy markets. LSE Festival | Rethinking Retirement: public policies to support life changes

Monday 12 June, 1.00 to 2.00pm BST

Are you ready to retire?  What will your last job be?  When do you want to step back? Prior to retiring people rarely consider these questions, and there is little of a public policy framework to help them do so. We discuss what research, teaching and ethnography can tell us about public policy around aging and the transition from work to retirement.

Speakers: Vince Cable, Professor in Practice, LSE School of Public Policy; David Sinclair, Chief Executive, International Longevity Centre; Susa Scholefield, Former Director General, Ministry of Defence UK.
